Dr. Abdulkareem Abubakar is a chemical engineering academic at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, and a Fall 2018 MIT-ETT fellow. He has embraced modern course design strategies to impart open-ended problem-solving skills to his engineering students. Leveraging insights from MIT, he restructured his curriculum to include continuous assessments and hands-on projects, moving beyond the traditional exam-centric approach. Dr. Abubakar’s research interests lie in thermofluid and process engineering – he has contributed to work on multiphase flow and sustainable wastewater treatment. He has also held international academic positions (including a stint in Oman) and actively collaborates on global engineering projects. His dual focus on innovative teaching and cutting-edge research is helping to produce a new generation of creative, industry-ready engineers.
