Dr. Aderonke Busayo Sakpere

Dr. Aderonke Busayo Sakpere is a senior lecturer of computer science at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. As a 2022 MIT-ETT fellow, she found that the program “opened her eyes” to emerging global trends and clarified the role of her career in regional development. Dr. Sakpere’s teaching and research center on human–computer interaction and digital skills development. She has been especially active in mentoring and equipping women with programming and technology skills in Nigeria – for instance, she leads initiatives that train young women in coding and software development. One of her notable projects, Kó_Èdè, presented at MIT in 2022, is focused on making digital skills more accessible and user-friendly for diverse communities. Through her forward-looking mindset and inclusive approach, Dr. Sakpere is guiding her students and community to embrace new technologies and contribute to global development in computing.
