Dr. Amos O. Bajeh

University of Ilorin

Spring 2019

Dr. Amos Orenyi Bajeh is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Ilorin. A Spring 2019 MIT ETT Fellow, he is a researcher at the intersection of Software Engineering, Machine Learning, and Cybersecurity. His work is dedicated to building more robust software systems that can automatically detect their own faults before they cause failures. His research focuses on Software Defect Prediction (SDP). He develops intelligent models that analyze source code to predict which modules are likely to contain bugs. Dr. Bajeh frequently utilizes Ensemble Learning techniques and algorithms like SMOTE (Synthetic Minority Over-sampling Technique) to handle “Class Imbalance” in software datasets. This ensures that his models can accurately identify rare but critical defects that standard algorithms often miss. Dr. Bajeh holds a Ph.D. in Information Technology with a specialization in Software Engineering from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Malaysia (2015). He also conducts significant research into Malware Classification, using Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference Systems (ANFIS) to categorize malicious software based on its behavior rather than just its signature. Since his fellowship at MIT, Dr. Bajeh has been a vocal advocate for modernizing the Nigerian computer science curriculum. He champions the use of Backward Design—a framework where courses are planned starting with the desired learning outcomes rather than the textbook content. He actively collaborates with other ETT fellows to publish research on how Constructive Alignment can be practically implemented in Sub-Saharan African universities to produce graduates who are better prepared for the global tech workforce
