Ahmadu Bello University
Spring 2019
Dr. David Olubiyi Obada is an engineering educator and researcher dedicated to integrating innovation into teaching and mentorship. A Spring 2019 MIT-ETT fellow, he co-developed an active-learning framework called CACPLA (Communicate, Active, Collaborate, Problem-based learning, and Assessment) to enhance student engagement and critical thinking, and published its outcomes in a peer-reviewed education journal. He serves as the outreach coordinator for the Africa Centre of Excellence on New Pedagogies in Engineering Education (ACENPEE) at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he mentors students and organizes innovation workshops. Dr. Obada also leads research in materials engineering – including projects on biocompatible materials for bone repair and cold-sintering processes – and has supervised student teams that won national innovation awards. His dedication to hands-on learning and international collaboration is helping shape a new generation of Nigerian engineers poised to tackle real-world problems with creativity.
