Dr. Emeka Okafor

Dr. Emeka Okafor is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Petroleum and Gas Engineering at the University of Port Harcourt. A Spring 2016 MIT-ETT Fellow, he is a seasoned expert in Natural Gas Engineering, Process Safety, and Energy Systems. His research focuses on the optimization of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) processes, Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) solutions, and the safety assessment of oil and gas facilities using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). Dr. Okafor is deeply committed to solving Nigeria’s energy challenges, particularly in gas monetization and infrastructure development. He holds a Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering from Imperial College London and an M.Sc. in Mechanical and Process Engineering from the Technische Universität Darmstadt, Germany. Beyond academia, he serves as a technical consultant for major energy projects, bridging the gap between theoretical research and industrial application.
