Dr. Enoruwa Obayiuwana

Obafemi Awolowo University

Fall 2020

Dr. Enoruwa Obayiuwana is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife. A Fall 2020 MIT-ETT Fellow, he is a researcher in the field of Wireless Communications, with a specific focus on Radio Resource Management (RRM) and Cognitive Radio Networks. His research addresses the challenge of spectrum scarcity in modern telecommunications. He specializes in developing algorithms for “Heterogeneous Wireless Networks” (HetNets), which allow different types of networks (like Wi-Fi, 4G, and 5G) to work together seamlessly. By optimizing how devices switch between these networks, his work aims to improve data speeds and reduce connection drops for mobile users in high-traffic environments. Dr. Obayiuwana holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Cape Town (UCT), South Africa. His doctoral work on “Network Selection for Group Calls” introduced novel decision-making criteria for managing mass communication during emergency situations or large public events. Following his fellowship at MIT, Dr. Obayiuwana has been an active proponent of modernizing the telecommunications curriculum at OAU. He integrates simulation tools like MATLAB and NS-3 into his courses, ensuring students gain practical experience in modeling complex network behaviors. He is also a key member of the university’s Applied Artificial Intelligence & Robotics Research Lab (A2IR2), where he explores the intersection of AI and wireless systems.
