Dr. Olawale B. Akinwale is a lecturer in the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife. He holds a Ph.D. in Electronic/Electrical Engineering and specializes in instrumentation, signal processing, and remote engineering. As a Fall 2018 MIT-ETT fellow, Dr. Akinwale was inspired to integrate technology-enhanced learning into his teaching. He has been instrumental in creating virtual and remote laboratory experiences at OAU, having developed online laboratory software and methods to give students hands-on practice even outside the physical lab. He also supervises student projects that apply theoretical knowledge to practical builds – from smart light switches and FM radio receivers to mini control systems – thereby reinforcing engineering concepts with tangible outcomes. Dr. Akinwale’s approach aims to groom students into inventive problem-solvers equipped for the digital age, while his research in thin-film electronics and nanotechnology continues to inform his innovative teaching.
