Spring 2019
Dr. Razak Olusegun Alli-Oke is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Elizade University, Ilara-Mokin. A Spring 2019 MIT-ETT Fellow, he is a purebred “Control Theorist” whose work delves into the mathematical foundations of stability and automation. His research focuses on Robust Control and Non-Linear Systems. He is internationally recognized for his work on the Kalman Conjecture, having published counterexamples that challenge long-held assumptions about the stability of specific feedback systems. Beyond theory, he applies his expertise to Industrial Automation, designing control logic for “Quadruple Tank Systems” using Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). This work bridges the gap between abstract mathematics and real-world industrial processing. Dr. Alli-Oke holds a Ph.D. in Control Engineering from the University of Manchester, UK (2014), where he was a member of the prestigious Control Systems Centre. His time at MIT had a profound impact on his teaching philosophy; he is a certified practitioner of the Kaufman Teaching Certificate Program (KTCP). Since returning to Nigeria, he has become a vocal advocate for “Constructive Alignment” in engineering education—a framework that ensures teaching methods and assessment tasks are directly aligned with intended learning outcomes. He has co-authored influential papers on using “Backward Design” to restructure engineering curricula in Sub-Saharan Africa, arguing that African universities must move away from “content-heavy” lectures to “competency-based” instruction.
