Dr. Victor Temitope Odumuyiwa

Dr. Victor Odumuyiwa is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and the pioneering Director of the NITDA IT Hub (NITHUB). A Spring 2013 MIT-ETT Fellow, he has established himself as a visionary leader in the Nigerian technology ecosystem, seamlessly bridging the gap between rigorous academic research and practical industry innovation. His leadership at NITHUB has transformed the university into a vibrant center for startup incubation and digital skills development. His research expertise lies at the intersection of Social Computing, Cybersecurity, and Artificial Intelligence. He is deeply invested in understanding how technology facilitates human collaboration and learning. Currently, he serves as a Principal Investigator for the EduAIHub, an IDRC-funded initiative focused on the responsible application of AI in education across Africa. His work aims to democratize access to advanced learning tools while ensuring that AI systems are developed with ethical considerations and local context in mind. Beyond his academic research, Dr. Odumuyiwa is a certified IBM Security Intelligence Analyst and a strong advocate for industry-standard technical training. He actively works to equip students with high-demand skills in software development, cloud computing, and data science, ensuring they are “market-ready” before graduation. He has been instrumental in fostering partnerships between UNILAG and major tech giants, creating a pipeline for talent that benefits both the students and the Nigerian tech economy. Dr. Odumuyiwa holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Lorraine, France, giving him a global perspective on technology education. He serves on the advisory board of Data Science Nigeria (DSN), where he contributes to shaping national strategies on digital literacy and AI adoption. Through his mentorship and policy advocacy, he continues to play a pivotal role in empowering the next generation of African technology leaders.
