Prof. Armand Florentin Donfack Kana is a Professor of Computer Science at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he specializes in Knowledge Representation and Reasoning (KRR) and Artificial Intelligence. He holds a Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Computer Science from the University of Ibadan, and a B.Sc. from the University of Ilorin. A Spring 2016 MIT-ETT Fellow, Prof. Kana has dedicated his career to bridging the gap between theoretical computing and practical application. His research focuses on Formal Ontologies, Soft Computing, and Machine Learning, with a specific emphasis on modeling uncertainty in intelligent systems. He has made significant contributions to the application of AI in healthcare, particularly in developing diagnostic models for skin cancer and breast cancer using Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and Case-Based Reasoning. Beyond healthcare, he works on applying Knowledge Graphs to automate university administrative processes. He is an active mentor, supervising numerous postgraduate researchers in advanced AI and computer vision topics.
